How big is our grease trap?

Grease trap or interceptors come in a wide range of sizes. They can be as small as 5 gallons and are typically inside and up to 5000 gallons or more. On average they range from 1000-2000 gallons. The larger ones are located outside your facility.  We can easily determine the size of your grease trap, as well as how many gallons it is currently holding.

How often should we have our grease trap serviced?

Grease traps are serviced in many different time tables. For example, some Wastewater Districts demand to have your grease trap serviced every three months, or more often if they deem necessary. Other Wastewater Districts allow pumping service on an as needed basis. We will help you with your frequency and keep you in compliance.

How do you determine when our grease trap is in need of service?

If you are in a Wastewater District that allows your grease trap to be serviced on an as needed basis, we will come to your site and pull a sample from your grease trap, and measure exactly how much waste has accumulated every month until you reach a 25% capacity in the primary chamber.

Are all our kitchen drains all connected to the grease trap?

Your kitchen drains may not all be connected to your grease trap; in fact, some may be tied into your black water line.  This is commonly referred to as a crossover.  We can test to see if this is the case.

Why is having cross overs in my kitchen a bad thing?

Food and grease clog pipes. It’s bad enough that you have to have your lines snaked and or jetted from the grease trap and into your kitchen from time to time. But when your lines cross over to the black water line you are involving the whole collection system. You now have a strong possibility of clogging your whole facility with this food and grease waste. This is what causes main line clogs effecting not only the kitchen but your bath rooms and flooding out the grease trap. One reason for grease trap back ups is from a down line clog. Sewer lines are not meant to handle food and grease.

What are the benefits of power washing out the grease trap?

Power washing clean your grease trap keeps grease from building up on the side walls and around your sewer-tee’s. Grease sticks to everything, especially concrete. After time, if your grease trap is not getting power washed clean, the capacity of your grease trap can be reduced dramatically.  Also by power washing we can pump out everything. Even the grease that sits in the back of the trap and is typically missed. We get it all.

Do we have to be there when you service our grease trap?

No. The process of pumping out your grease trap is unpleasant to others, which is why we pump and clean before you open for business. Our camera system will provide you with proof that the job was done right. However, if you wish to be there we would be happy to see you at a scheduled time.
